Penelope

Some things are just meant to be no matter how much you deny it! I have had the pleasure in fostering for the T.A.R.A alliance and I have to say what a great feeling it is to give a rescue dog a place to feel safe and warm until ‘adopted’ fills their empty void. Penelope the British Bulldog came to live with me and I have to say I have probably learnt more from Penny than I have taught her. After being liberated from a puppy mill with over 20 others, she has gone from being a ‘breeder and number’ to being a FAMILY pet with a name Penelope (or Penny as I affectionately call her). She knew she was getting a second chance in life, and she relished every moment, learning, adapting, loving and sleeping soundly. I tackled a few ‘diva’ issues with relatively ease, because Penny seemed to say “I’m listening and I’m learning” That before I knew it, she had already found herself happily joining in as a part of my household and three other family dog-kids. But always I told myself ‘She is a foster, I can’t have another..NO NO NO, this is what’s best for her” But then that possible forever home looms, and the thought of watching her shine without you grabs a hold of your heart, you tear up, a lump forms in your throat and you realize…”She’s already home.” Penny is my first foster failure and I know that when I can in the future I will foster more and again most probably failure on that special one that fits just right. For me that has been Penny, when she fears I will be there, when she cowers and remembers her past I will be there; anything she wants. What do I get in return…Penny showing me the power of forgiveness of her past with her unconditional love, funny Pennisims, snuggles and ultimate true friendship… You are home Penny, you are home….

Princess

Princess came to TARA terrified of everything & everyone. After being in a loving foster home, she started to come out of her shell and once adopted by her wonderful family, her personality really started to shine! Princess's mom tells us she is a very funny girl who keeps them on schedule by howling if they try deviating from their normal routine and tries convincing her feline brother, Harry, to play. We're thrilled to hear this shy girl is blossoming in her new home!

Pandi

Pandi’s world came crashing down when she was surrendered to a high kill shelter by her family who was moving. Due to the urging of two of our great volunteers, T.A.R.A. was able to rescue her just hours before she was to be euthanized. She spent a little bit of time at our kennel facility before she became a foster baby to Angie and Chad Lantsberger. She quickly made herself right at home and poured on the charm by giving her foster parents lots of “Pandi-bear hugs” and by showing her ability to boogy while dancing on her hind feet. After a few missed attempts at a forever home (no fault of Pandi’s), Angie wondered if she was meant to be part of the Lantsberger pack. Giving it one more shot, Pandi attended a meet-and-greet with Cheri and her son Jackson…it was love at first sight! Now, Pandi is doing amazingly well at her forever home with them! She even tries to snuggle with the cats of the home! Cheri says it’s like Pandi’s been a part of their family forever and that they love her very much.

Peter

Pete is doing great! He has come SO far since the day we adopted him! He had some anxiety issues that we had to work on and even talked to Jenny the behaviorist about! But we stuck with him and are so happy we did. He is a great dog! He is best buds with our little girl who is 14 months! We have a nice comfy bed in our room for him but he insists on sleeping in her room next to her crib! And he is the first one in her room when she cries! It's almost hilarious how much they love each other! Here are a few pictures! Feel free to share as a happy tail! We would be very proud!

Presley

Thank you for checking up on Presley! She is doing so wonderfully. I will go to the website and share for sure. She absolutely the sweetest girl in the world. She just melted right into our family beautifully. She absolutely loves playing with our other rescue doggie Oscar. They are my little matching duo. I'll post pictures of them together. She also loves our 3 kids. She made the transition to being a house dog perfectly! She's even finally learning to walk nicely on her leash. We take the dogs out for a least a mile every evening. She's been out on a boat and swam in the lake. She jumped right into her doggie life vest and it was nearly impossible for her to stay out of the water! She's a swimmer for sure!. We can't imagine our life without her now and she is such a sweet sweet girl. She loves to run, play and fetch. She's such a smart girl- we've also been doing a few agility tricks with her. She knows "through" to go through the tunnel and will do the A-frame and pause at the top. It's hard for us to believe anyone would ever give her up- or that they were ready to put her down because she was "kennel crazy"! We love her to pieces and I think she's pretty happy here too with her "brother" and kids!
