Princess truly has a sad story to tell.  She first came to TARA back in mid-January this year courtesy of a kind police officer who found her abandoned in her own back yard after her owners moved out in the midst of a terrible winter and didn't take this poor girl with them.  She had no adequate shelter or food/water and wouldn't have survived more than a few days if the officer didn't find rescue for her with us.  2 weeks later, she was briefly adopted (2 days) before she became frightened and escaped from her new home out into the cold weather again.  Fast forward a few days later found her a mile up the road, with a caring family that took her in and tried to slowly befriend her, as she is a shy girl at first and needs to gain trust in people since her previous owners were so neglectful of her.  The family that has been safe-keeping her says she loves her kennel/crate or small rooms, especially during storms.  She is well-behaved, doesn't tear up anything in the house.  They say her only little strange quirk is she likes to scatter her food a little out of her bowl and eat it right up off the floor :)  She is loving once she has gotten used to you and wants affection.

We would like to see Princess finally get her forever home, preferrably with an older person or couple or a family that has older kids (over the age of 8). She does fine with other dogs and cats, just needs an initial warming up period.  We think she is approx. 4-5 years old and would truly make a loyal companion to someone who shows her unconditional love and friendship. Please give Princess a chance at her Happily Ever After!

Approximate Birthdate:  10/01/2005

Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed.  Size is subjective but we use the following guidelines: Small 1-20 pounds, Med 20-50 pounds, Large 50-80 pounds, Extra Large over 80 pounds.
