Nutmeg
Nutmeg had a great night! So far she's been very quiet and timid--the boys seem to startle her the most but she's doing okay.
Teddy bounded out of bed this morning when he heard me getting ready to go on a walk. Both boys are so excited and promise to be calmer--for a few days. ;o)
Thanks so much for introducing us to sweet Nutmeg--she's going to be a great addition to our family!!
Nibbs
Tracey,
Nibbs is now Briggs. He is such a stinker. He has developed a fascination with toilet paper, and has taken to toilet papering our house when no one is watching. I think he is training for a toddler :). He is growing so fast. He is already 25 pounds and only 7 months old. He is best friends with Soup our cat. He is training for therapy work as well. It's taking a little longer than we thought, but he is coming along, and I hope to be able to start bringing him to work after the Christmas holiday.
Tracey, he is the best pup. Yes, he is just like any other dog when it comes to training, but he is so loving, and we just couldn't be more grateful that he was put into our home. I know being in Alaska, that there was a lot more you had to do to adopt him to us, but we are so thankful. We couldn't imagine not having him as part of our family.
I'm attaching a few pics so you can see how happy he is and how much he has grown.
Thanks again,
Tara
Nora
Greetings Jennifer!
Nora, or "Ellie" as we have now nick-named her, is getting along famously! We love her! She seems to have adapted pretty well to her new home...cats & all! We didn't see Butters, our male cat till about 5 a.m. Sunday morning! He was sitting on a buffet inside the front door when Ellie & I came in from a quick potty trip! Butters & Boots have been more & more accepting of her with each passing day!
Potty training slowed down last Sunday when it was pouring down rain... other than that little detour, Ellie seems to be mannerly & heads to
the front door when she needs to go. Joe has been keeping her on a pretty consistent schedule during the day when I'm at school. He takes her out on the leash to the front yard. She & the neighbors dog play! When I'm home, she had supervised time in the back yard! The fence
keeps her in! She loves exploring yet we think she needs to grow a little & work on following commands before he lets her out during the time I'm gone.
Sleeping though the night!...waking about 6a.m., breakfast...morning walk up & down the block... starts our days...
trips to downtown Overland Park...getting bellie rubs!!!... playing fetch with a ball, hiding small raw hide bones...a few of her favorite things!
Oh, our vet said she looks "perfect!" They were happy to meet her! The ear cleanser you sent home with her is something they said to continue to use. Her cough was gone, even before the pills were gone. She loved her bath (the first Saturday night!)
We'll keep in touch! Just know that, we're all smiling!!! She's a sweetheart and has been well loved long before she came to us!
Thank you for all you did for her. Thank her other foster mom too. I'll try to get photos off to you in the near future!!!
Sincerely,
Phyllis & Joe...and yes, Ellie sends her love !
Nala
Nala & Tucker (formerly Jesse) "I just wanted to share some pictures of my two TARA cats.
I adopted Jesse from the 40 HWY location (Tracey Sadler) about 13 months ago and Nala from the 75th street location (Celeste Lindell) just a couple weeks ago.
As you can see from the pictures they hit it off really well, better than we could have hoped for.
They are pretty much inseparable now, always playing and cleaning each other. Nala thinks Tucker is the tops, she follows him everywhere.
Our older female Millie (10 yrs old) has also been extremely tolerant of Nala coming to live with us.
Nala likes to get up on the bed and sleep near her (not next to, but near), and they never get into any hissing spats.
I think Nala must be extremely likeable to other cats as I never expected it to go so well.
Thanks for all you do at TARA, you're an incredibly selfless group of people helping the helpless the way you do; God bless you for it, and thanks for my two kids."
Nathan
He is an awesome dog.
We took him to the vet and other than a “Hot Spot” on his hip, they thought he was fine. He did have a little cough but the vet thought the antibiotics he was on for the “hot spot” would clear it up, and sure enough the cough and “Hot Spot” are mostly gone now.
He is doing great with potty training and now sits at the door when he needs to go out (providing he is out of his crate with us in the Den).
He is curious about the cats and the cats are warming up. The cats are older and he has a bit too much energy for them right now. But he does not chase them or try to hurt them.
Kallan, our grandson, is 16 month old, and Nate are becoming fast friends. Nate is very gentle with him, as if he knows he should be.
We have already fallen in love with him and he is a part of the family.
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to bring a dog back into our family.
