Marigold
Good morning Virginia. Just a quick first week update. Maggie is just great! She is so sweet and very smart. She and Lou seem to have figured everything out and are getting along fine. She is much more comfortable…no longer scared in the car, protective of her food, etc. She does seem to have a little cold as of yesterday but seems very happy. We just love her!
Quick question…I keep getting e-mails from The Shelter Care Team about registering her microchip. Was that already done when we adopted her or do we need to do that?
Again, I just can’t thank you enough for your help with the adoption. Maggie is a great dog and we are so happy. I was in the PetCo on Saturday (saw that her brother, Sherman, was there) and spoke with several people as we were looking at the dogs and I told them what a great experience it had been working with your organization.

Virginia,
Thanks so much for the e-mail. Things have been going great right now. Mackenzie is keeping her name. I have been calling her that for the last 5 weeks while watching her on Petfinder, and the name just seems to stick! She is doing alright so far with house training, although she isn't a barker, so sometimes it is difficult to know when she needs to go out. Her incision is healing up nicely as well. We have had a good time visiting the family farm and spending time with my mom's dogs as well. I will keep you posted, but we are really happy with how laid-back and easy going she is. Thanks again!

Hi Virginia.
Sorry for the long delay in reponding. I am really bad aout checking my personal e-mail ... I sit too long in front of a computer at work so when I come home I really do not want to look at a computer at all! I have renamed Megan and she is now Melba (named after a famous Australian opera singer) and she and Yarras are getting along very well now . In the beginning Yarras was distainful then jealous and now she is happy to have Melba to play with although Melba is still not allowed on our bed at night. Yarras will allow her on the bed during the day but when it is time to sleep Melba's spot is on the carpet on my side of the bed while Yarras sleeps on the bottom of the bed.
I am leaving shortly to pick them up from the Vet's ... they have been boarding there since Saturday.
we went to NY state for 5 days and got home late last night ... I expect they both will be very happy to see us. I will call Sherry probably tomorrow as I will have another bag of food for your shelter.
Thanks again for all your help with Melba ... and she sends you a big hug. Cheers

Hi Virginia-
Things are going pretty well with Evei (Evey? Evie?) (we changed her name, still haven’t settled on a spelling, though). :0) The cats and her are jelling a little better, but the boy cat is still pretty “put out” by her. I’m sure things will get better. The housetraining is going pretty well, too. The kennel thing is decent, but she’s gotten into a few things when we have left her out, so I’m keeping her in the kennel during the day, and leaving her out in the evenings when we go somewhere that we can’t take her with us. Her puppy side has really come out in the past week and a half, the more relaxed and comfortable she is becoming. She is very sweet, and we are definitely keeping her. All the other stuff is minor. I have noticed that she is very quick to show her submissiveness to new dogs. Even ones that are quite smaller than she is and you would suspect she would be the dominant one . . . any clues on that??
Thanks again Virginia for your help in finding us a dog that we love!
Take care,
Debbie
Mia
I've been meaning to send you an update for some time now but keep losing track of time. Mia (now known as Romy) is doing great. We are still working on the potty training. She'll do really well for a few days and then we'll have a bad day with a few accidents. We are getting into a schedule and she seems to be doing better and better.
She and Roscoe are starting to get a long and they LOVE to wrestle with each other. He is still adjusting to having her around all of the time and is still pouty from time to time but is getting more playful with her. Walks are still interesting....I tried a leash splitter last night and it was a disaster so they still both have their own leashes.
She is really the sweetest dog and is very protective of both Roscoe and I. She's a load of energy in the morning and has been great motivation for us all to get up and walk in the morning before I go to work.
I've attached some pictures. Please share with Romy's foster dad and tell him that she's doing great!
