I think you brought us a couch potato rather than a dog. I wish I could sleep as much as he does. :-P Goofy Boomer!
Layla
Virginia,
They were both exhausted last night. Buddy slept beside me and hardly moved which is unusual for him. Layla was tired also. They both slept while I dressed this morning.
I will fwd you the email I sent to family and friends with photos.

Hello! Things are going great. We actually re-named her "Penelope" so we are calling her "Penny" for short. She is such a dream. She has had only a few accidents inside, but is really good at going potty when she's outside. We purchased a crate for her, and keep it next to the bed at night. The first night she was here, she cried for a few minutes, but then fell asleep. There are lots of toys for her, and she loves them! She has a miniature rawhide stick "thing", and a little bone that she enjoys chewing on. She seems to be pretty good at playing fetch - I can't believe the size of the balls she brings back!
I had my bridal shower tonight, and everyone loved her. She is so friendly, and so fun to watch and play with. My matron of honor's 9-month old baby boy was here, and she just sniffed him and was very calm around him - definitely a plus! She gets along really well with my mom's dogs (all 3 of them!). We have been taking her with us in the car, and I have been carrying her around a lot - she does FANTASTIC with both of those things. I can not imagine having a better tempered dog!
Oh, and she struggled some with all of the stairs that are here, but she is not a stair master! She can run up and down them now with no problems!
The only bad news is that we took her to my parents' vet today, who told us the reason her eyes are so watery is that her eyelids are slightly rolled in. He said she will need surgery, to prevent eye infections and to just keep her more comfortable. He also said she has so many extra teeth that they probably WILL need to be pulled. I almost fainted when he was talking about her eyelids, but the surgery sounds relatively simple. He said she's not in any pain right now, which is good. So, we hope to get her in for that surgery ASAP so she can be more comfortable! She is so sweet, we don't want her to feel icky. Also, we signed up for the monthly pet insurance for her. It won't cover her eyelid surgery or the teeth removal, but I think it will be good to have. The vet DID say she does NOT have a heart murmor, and that she has good knee caps (both of which are often problematic with poms I guess?) - so we are grateful for that!!
Anyway, I could write a whole book about her, as you can see! Thank you for taking such good care of her. I am so glad there are people like you who enable these animals to live long, happy lives. She is amazing. I have always been more of a cat person, but I just adore her (so does my fiance - he gave her a bath the other day and dried her very gently with the blow dryer - it was too cute!!). I will attach some pics if I can figure out how. We will definitely stay in touch! Thanks again!
P.S. Did Layla find a home??

Hi Virginia,
She is doing great so far. Had a bit of a problem with her poopin in the house but we can fix that. I have been walking her in the yard for now until I can see how she would do on her own. I haven't had Alyssa since Sunday evening. I had to drop her off at her moms after we picked Lady up, but they were cute together in the back seat on the way there. I'm sure they will be fine together. Lady is a sweetheart!! Like we all were saying she doesn't have a mean bone in her body!
Thanks for the follow up. I will keep you informed on how she is doing.
Thanks,
Chris Freund
Luna
Hi Tracey,
She is doing great. She is still wary of men, but now she hides behind me when she barks at fiends of mine. She is so sweet and gentle. She bonded with Rusty immediately and she is doing really well with me. I left for two meeting this afternoon, and Rusty told me she whined and searched for me for a long time before she settle down. When I did come in she jumped all over me with kisses and hugs.
She won't go outside unless we go out first and encourage her to come out to us. When we go out to walk at night she needs for me to go out first and she will follow. At night she is good about going in her crate, but I have to kneel by the door and she goes in for me. Rusty has to take her by the collar and guide her in.
Today she discovered my Croc shoes. Rusty was gone in the morning and she and I were alone. I was doing some work and she was sitting by me. I didn't know she had left me, and when Rusty came in, she found my Crocs downstairs with tooth prints all over. She could have shredded them and didn't. She must have made two trips to bring them down and chewed them a bit and left them in the living room.
Luna is wonderful. Rusty and I both feel blessed to have her in our lives and we we are both bonding with her really well. She is a sweet wonderful dog and we feel blessed to have her in our lives.
I did extend her insurance to the end of January and we got most all of our supplies. We have been to Dresslers 3X already. She is shy with other dogs, and of course she is still afraid of most men. I plan to invite friends (men) over and have her upstairs with Rusty, When they are seated with hats off and no sunglasses, I will have Rusty bring her down and see how she handles that. We probably won't do that for a month or two.
That is about all for now. Check in again and I will keep you posed. We are really loving her.
We both send a big thanks to you and Steve for all the good work and attention you gave her and for your steering us to her.
Jerry
