Animal Success Stories
Whitley
Hi, Tracey,
Thanks for asking. Whitley's first days here have been great. She traveled comfortably, no anxiety about the car ride at all. She walks perfectly on a loose leash, much better than her new "sister." The dogs had an uneventful introduction. I introduced Whitley to the house, room by room. Then I took the two dogs for a walk. They were very comfortable with each other. Sammy, our pointer, was clearly tickled to have a new playmate. They're getting along very well.
Whitley met our barn cats yesterday. She was very casual, no excitement or agitation. The cats are good judges of what dogs they trust, and they weren't concerned in the least about Whitley's visit.
She has already met a few of my friends. She is understandably timid but consistently calm and gradually more cordial. She really has a great temperament. Last night she was retrieving tennis balls for me! This morning she was coming on command and sitting for treats.
And the big score: she's been so good on walks Friday night and yesterday that this morning we walked around the yard off-leash! She stayed right with me, more interested in what I was doing than in the antics of Sammy, the pointer. She'll grow more independent as she gains confidence here, of course, but I'm sure she'll be the kind of companion dog I enjoy.
So we're off to a great start. I think Whitley has enjoyed getting acquainted with her new environment. And I'm having fun getting to know her.
Thank you for your help in facilitating the adoption. Say hi to my young friend, Emery (?). I was so impressed by his maturity and his understanding of the pet rescue process. Let him know that Whitley is enjoying her new home and family. I haven't tried hotwheels.com yet.
Best wishes to you and TARA's Dream.
Larry
