Sidney
Sidney

Sherrie: Sidney is having a blast, and Abbie is adapting well. Saturday night was a challenge - at around midnight, she started crying to get out of her kennel and didn't want to go back to sleep. Sunday was better, as was yesterday. We're still working on the schedule issues - with Abbie getting medicine in wet foot three times a day, we have to work on keeping Sidney out of it, but that's coming together well. She's also discovered her voice nicely, and she and Abbie have had several "disagreements." Kind of funny to see. The cat doesn't care . Sidney has been traveling as well - she went to my folks' house, and they loved her, then to Kathy's folks house who loved her as well. She's going to take some training, but she seems to be learning well. When she gets out of her kennel, she is taken straight outside, so we're building the habit of having her never go in the house. She's definitely not suffering for lack of attention! Great puppy! Chris

Hi Vona! I just wanted to update you on Spade. He's been doing great! He just graduated yesterday from Petsmarts Beginner's class. He's just so darn smart. He goes to doggie daycamp every Saturday and gets to meet new friends and then come home exhausted and falls asleep while chewing a bone. haha. On his last vet visit they determined that he is actually a Border Collie/Retriever mix which explains the coat. He gets along great with other dogs and is so gentle with the smaller ones. He has a best bud on our block, a Minpin named Rudy. It's pretty funny watching the two of them together. We're still trying to get him to be more comfortable around humans, the only ones that he feels comfortable around so far are me, my mom, Matthew, and my mom's twin Harolyn. She says however that being with us has definitly helped him gain his confidence and with some patience and work he should be able to overcome it. Overall though he is a very happy and spoiled little pup indeed. We all absolutely adore him and thank you again for helping bring him into our lives. Sincerely, Cortney, Carolyn, Matthew, and Spade.

Good morning, Virginia! Well, for starters we did decide to rename her Loki (low-kee)! We've recently found out though that Loki is the Greek God of Mischief, so... haha. She hasn't poked her nose into too much, but she's also slowly showing her layers as the days pass, so who knows what today will bring! The first day, Loki layed around the house and hung around Stephen most of the time. They really must have formed a solid bond from thier first meeting because she has attached herself to his side and become his shadow!! It's very sweet to watch and Stephen just adores hers. I'll catch him slipping her an extra treat every now and again and have to remind him we do have two dogs! Haha. As far as Peanut goes, she is doing so much better with Loki than expected. Stephen and I have been doing a walk in the morning and a walk in the evening everyday with both Peanut & Loki and I definitely think it is helping both of them adjust to one another. Peanut still likes her space and will show her teeth if Loki gets too close to her face, but each time has gone without incident and while some of it is due to us correcting Peanut right away, I think Loki understands and is smart enough to know when to walk away. It's definitely going to be an everyday job, but we know it will be worth it 110%... it truly already is. The only thing that has us feeling a little sad is that we can tell Loki just wants to play with Peanut... she wants to run the yard with her and wrestle and just be a puppy, but I think Peanut is a little uneasy about her size and hasn't quite got to the comfort level of being able to romp around yet. Ha! We do try our best to fill in as a play mate and run the yard with Loki playing chase and between the two daily walks and the running around we are both SO SORE. Haha. Hopefully one day down the road, we'll be able to adopt one more dog about Loki's size so she can have a play mate because Peanut's kind of a Lone Ranger. After six years of being the only dog, she has mastered playing by herself and keeping herself entertained! Maybe that will change? We did notice through the weekend that she had a few coughing bouts and found on her papers that she did have kennel cough. They said she'd been treated in July, so maybe she's just now getting over it? Her energy is still there, she's DEFINITELY STILL EATING, and as the days passed she coughed less and less. We'll moniter it, but I think she'll be fine! All in all, Loki is just a complete and total joy to have around. She keeps us ono our toes and has made us more active than we normally are which we're both coming to enjoy as well. Stephen and I just cannot imagine our family without her! Thanks for checking in on us and as soon as I can, I'll snap some photos and send them over! Karah
