Allie
Hi Sherrie,
Hope all is well with you and T.A.R.A., we did see your booth at Oktober Fest in Lee's Summit and shared our adoption story. Dollie has emerced herself into our lives as you can see from the attached pictures. She did have a minor health issue two weekes ago and we had to rush her to the emercency vet in Lee's Summit for care, it ended up to be an anal gland abcess. We will be trying to recuperate some of our funds as we were still within the 30 day trial for Shelter Care so I'll keep you posted on how that goes. The question Shannon and I ask ourselves daily is "how did we ever live before without Dollie"? She has brought our family so much happiness and joy! She has even been a hit with the extended family, the grandparents love the "Granddog". Again, thank you for what you do for all of the families out there like ours and for giving us a chance!

Autumn
Sorry this is delayed, but anyone who is familiar with Autumn will be happy to know she was adopted on Wed. June 22. An update from her new daddy is that he has named her Sammie and she is doing wonderful! She goes to the video rental store he owns with him every day and loves greeting his customers. In fact, she'll softly whimper until they pet her. She recently went to his sister's house, had a great time playing with her dog, and being loved on by her four little kids (6mo-5 1/2 years old). They pulled her tail and ears and she sat there and loved every minute of it. He said she's had no accidents in the house, sleeps in the bed with him, cuddles with his 84 year old father, and will be going to the vet soon to get a check-up and heartworm prevention. YAY!!!! Sounds like a great adoption!
Anne
Kelley, we changed Anne's name to Miko. She has won the hearts of Nathan and I, Mikado is getting there. After she was quarantined for three weeks due to her parasites, then 2 weeks of tape worm medication she was finally freed and has a clean bill of health. She loves playing with her' Da Bird' toy and she is quite the lovey cat. She wants to rub your head and face and occasionally you might get a love nip. She gets called on those, and is getting better. Our Vet says that she is a Flame Point Balinese but probably not pure breed. She has a bad habit of eating things she finds on the floor. Mikado and the late TiaChi would play with rubber bands and not eat them. She found one and was playing with it. A few hours later I find about 1/3 of the rubber band, she ate the rest of it. It did come up later in the mess on the rug, thank heavens. So, no more rubber bands for her to play with.
Mikado and Miko are cohabiting, they chase each other around but for the most part have their own spaces.
We attached a few pics, a couple for Mikado and Miko, on watching the deck building and one on the stairs.
The others are of the charming Miko. We love her to pieces. Thanks.
Ash
I actually volunteer with TARA, too! I have three adopted TARA kitties, so I'm sending you an update for all of them, with photos.
I adopted Lucky (orange cat -- now Oscar), Ash (black cat -- now Hector), and Billy Ray (gray cat -- now Odin). I'm attaching photos of them lounging around with my dog Angus. As you can see, they have very stressful lives.
Achilles
Achilles is doing very well here. He was very shy at first but has adapted very well. He still needs more socializing but we are working on that when we can. He plays hard with our Bassett/Chow mix pup (his buddy) and loves to kiss on our older guy Jake. His potty training was easy, he did do the excited piddle, but for the most part his is over that. One issue we have and will probably battle for a long time is him chewing up stuff. Between him chewing up my table and chairs and other wood products and Shaka chewing up shoes and bags, we have to be more careful as to what we leave out. Achilles and Shaka work very well together at getting into trouble together and it's funny, because when I find something tore up, I just have to hold it up and ask who did it and whichever one did it will hang their head and hide under the end table. It's hard to be mad at them when they act like that. :)
The plan right now is to enroll him in obedience training through a Lawrence group, we may add Shaka in on it as well. But since we adopted Achilles, he has gained some weight (because he is a PIG) and gotten a little bigger. His coat has gotten darker as he gets older. He is becoming an even prettier dog than he already was. He loves to be outside, but only for short amounts of time, he gets hot or something and can only handle short spurts. He does very well being in the front yard (no fence), if he goes near the street, all we have to do is yell his name and he backs off and turns around. All in all he is a very smart dog, yes he has his moments, but he keeps us entertained. Thank you for what you do and I hope the pics are what you are looking for.
