From Julius' foster mom: I found Julius roaming around in search of food on a busy street. He was thin, dirty, and growled and barked as I approached him. He backed himself into a corner while barking at me and then just plopped down and rolled into his back and proceeded to pee all over me. I couldn't help but laugh at this adorably scrappy pup.
I walked around and asked people milling about on the street if they knew him but of course everyone just shook their heads and turned to walk away from us.
So I scooped him up and brought him home with me.When I arrived at home he had poked his head up but was still shaking. I left the car door opened and let his foster brother come into the garage. He greeted him with a sniff then cowered. I sat with him for a bit and nuzzled his little ears until he worked up the courage to stand up and get out of the car on his own. He and his foster brother met and he seemed tense and went to hide in the garage. I had to crawl and dig him out from underneath a table and carry him inside and he's been a completely different puppy after his first night and after sleeping for 10 hours!
Julius is a very sweet, loving, and affectionate puppy. He isn't a whiner and is content no matter where I put him. He does well in his xpen (doggy playpen) while I'm gone and is learning to take his big foster brothers lead to sprawl out on the couch or run laps in the backyard.
Julius is a pretty smart puppy and I can only assume that stems from being left alone for the majority of his short life and fending much for himself. He has had fewer than 5 accidents in all most two weeks and keeps a tidy kennel. He is a joy to have around and is ready for his forever home.
He is highly food motivated and will make an excellent candidate for training. He sleeps all through the night and is just one of the easiest puppies I have ever had the pleasure of fostering.
Julius would do best with an older dog to show him the ropes and to teach him boundaries as his current foster brother is a saint and has a high tolerance for all the puppies that have been in and out of our home.
Update on Julius: Jules is growing like a weed! He's such a handsome boy. He loves his foster brother and loves tackling and wrestling with him while they are outside or okay they rough house inside too but only until mom says enough. They then separate and plop down on opposite sides of the room to lounge and maybe pout a little.
Jules rarely has accidents in the house and is allowed free roam at night. He is potty trained and will whine if he has to potty in the middle of the night. He sleeps in the living room with his foster brother. While he lounges on the couches, occasionally he prefers to be on the floor.
He would make a great child for a moderately active family. Jules LOVES to play, but tires out when he goes for walks or when Littlefoot runs laps around him in the yard. He also LOVES to play fetch and has a pet monkey he carries with him everywhere.
He's a sweet big goofy puppy and he's just loads of fun. His floppy ear will always bring a smile to my face. And those eyes...well he had me the moment I saw his beautiful aquamarine eyes.
Please put in an application if you would love to meet and possibly adopt this wonderful boy. He deserves to know what a forever home and person really is!
