Marizona is a pure bred Australian Cattle Dog who showed up on a kind person's doorstep one day looking for a home. Since he was unable to keep her, he contacted us and we took her in. When she first walked into the house, she was rather timid, but soon warmed up and got along well with all the dogs although they are significantly larger than she is. Marizona weighs around 30 pounds, is about one year old and is very sweet and loving. She did, however, chase the cats around in circles for hours on end, which she thought was great fun. Unfortunately, the cats did not quite share her enthusiasm and started to get annoyed, so we had to call a halt to the herding festivities.

She is unsure of strangers at first and that has been a stumbling block in finding her a home. There are people who hug strangers in the check out line and are bosom buddies by the time they get to the register, but as most of us would agree, that is not the norm. We want to know someone before giving them our trust and Marizona is no different. While reticent and grumbly when meeting someone for the first time, she is an absolute love bug once she realizes that you are not going to harm her. She follows her foster mom around like a little shadow, sleeps in her bed and tries to sneak in a dance every chance she gets - yes, she loves to slow dance! She'll put her front paws around your hip and actually take rhythmic steps, it's quite comical.

Marizona is a very pretty dog with her one blue and one brown eye and gorgeous coloring and markings. She loves other dogs and really craves a stable home where she can feel loved and secure for life. Another dog would be great company for her and as to cats, as long as they are unflappable and not easily annoyed, she will do just as well with them as she will with dogs.
