Hello there! My name is Emmalou.  I am about a year old from everyone's best guess and a Schnauzer/Terrier mix.  I was transferred to T.A.R.A from southeast Missouri because the shelter I was in just didn't have room for me.  Since being here with my foster family- I'm learning to be a dog again.  My foster mom thinks I must have been on my own for most of my young life because I didn't know how to play or act like a puppy.  The 2 other dogs in my foster family have spent the last couple of weeks teaching me what it's like to live in a loving family and be a dog.  I will actually play with toys and the other dogs now! Mostly though, I love laps and soft places to lay. I love snuggles and belly rubs.  My foster mom says I have an "old soul".  I love to be with my people. I want to be wherever you are.  I love car rides and walks. I do pretty darn good on a leash too. I do not like being left behind and I will try all kinds of sneaky tricks to try to go out the door with you.  I don't run away- I just want to go where you are going. I will stay behind and sit at the door if I'm told to- but I do fuss some.  I just want everyone to know it hurts my feelings to be left.  I am completely housebroken and will go and tap the bell on the back door when I need to go out. I will go in a crate for a short period of time- but I get a little panicked if I have to stay in there for a long time. My foster family is trying to help me realize that it's a safe place- but I just prefer to be left out.  If you are looking for a sweet young pup who is not super wild and crazy- I'm your girl!  I love kids and other dogs. I really haven't met a cat before but I don't think I'd mind them too much. Did I mention that my scruffy fur means I don't shed?  It's the truth!  I am going to need some grooming and then to keep this crazy hair under control but it won't be all over the place. That's a plus right?  I hope to meet you soon.

Adoption Fee: $150.00

TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming.  TARA's pets are all eligible for a  two week trial  .

Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed.  Size is subjective but we use the following guidelines: Small 1-20 pounds, Med 20-50 pounds, Large 50-80 pounds, Extra Large over 80 pounds.
