Meet Rocky! This beautiful 9 month old kitten was found roaming the Rockhurst University campus this fall. What amazes us about this little boy is his absolute love of people. In fact, it isn’t accurate to say that Rocky was found - he found us! He followed several people around a university campus until one took him into her office. Luck would have it that Rocky’s new friend knew some very dedicated animal rescue volunteers and was able to find him a foster home that day.
Rocky has a huge personality. He is intelligent, playful, energetic, and talkative, but he also has a softer side that loves to cuddle up on a lap or couch after a long day of exploring his new environment.
Rocky uses a litter box and has not had any accidents. He is neutered, up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV. He has a short white coat that doesn’t seem to shed nearly as much as other cats. He also has beautiful heterochromatic eyes - one green and one blue. In many cats, the ear on the “blue side” is also deaf, but if that is the case with Rocky, he sure doesn’t struggle with it! His fosters have not noticed any problems with hearing or vision.
Rocky lives in a foster home with two other cats. He gets along well with them, although they typically don’t tolerate his exuberant playing! He has met a few dogs and he seems to prefer to ignore them and have them do the same. If they choose to get too close, he does direct a hiss and maybe the swipe of a paw in their direction, but he usually just chooses to escape the situation.
The best part about this kitten is his ability to make you laugh! He adores water, which means he is constantly up on counters near sinks, following you into the shower, and (unfortunately for him!) falling into the toilet on occasion. His fosters have adapted to leaving the toilet lid shut, a small price to pay for keeping this sweet boy warm and dry. They are also working hard to teach Rocky to stay off of the counters, especially in the kitchen where it could put him in a dangerous situation. Because of how smart he is, he’s learning very quickly!
If you are looking for a great companion who lets you know how happy he is to see you, put in an application today to meet Rocky. He is sure to win your heart with a few scratchy kisses, joyful meows, and rumbling purrs in your direction!
