Margie originally came to TARA when her momma learned she had an aggressive esophageal cancer and she wouldn't be able to physically care for Margie or her doggy brother and two doggy sisters any longer. Margie is a 5 year old APBT mix girl (approximate birth date of 3/10/10) who is about 50-lbs. Margie is very particular about her dog friends (we'd recommend only submissive dogs around her size) and would be best in a home without cats, but she's never met a human she didn't like & didn't want to immediately snuggle with. She is currently being fostered with an older AmStaff mix female and a younger Boxer mix male. Margie is very playful & loves to play tug-o-war with her foster brother, but she also respects her foster sister's boundaries when she's not wanting to play with the group.
Margie loves long walks and is completely fascinated with every squirrel, bird and person that walks by. She is good on a leash, but prefers a brisk pace and likes the stability of a walking harness and a standard leash. Margie used to be a little over-enthusiastic in her greetings, but has since worked with her foster mom on how to greet all humans without jumping on them, and now prefers a good side-hug. She's very smart & extremely food-motivated, so she's also learned/demonstrated a good response with several commands including Sit, Down, Up, Touch, Kennel Up, Leave It, and Come. Margie is house-trained and kennel-trained, but if truth be told, she's not a big fan of her kennel & likes to bust out every once in awhile. The upside is that she's never gotten in the trash or chewed up the furniture when she's out of the kennel, she just finds a soft pillow to sleep on instead.
But don't think this girl is all action and no snuggles -- Margie is a HUGE cuddler, and likes to be as close to her humans as possible whenever she gets the chance. She routinely gives good "hugs", leaning her side against you and laying her head on your lap. Would you like to play with this lovable girl, taking her for walks and then cuddling on the couch afterwards in her forever home?
