Boomer was confiscated due to neglect. This poor boy and his siblings were brought to their city shelter where they have been waiting for a forever home. It is a surprise his circumstances thus far have not broken his spirit. Once he arrived in his foster home it was obvious Boomer was an appreciative little boy and thrilled to be out of the shelter. He lets us know everyday how thankful he is by his sweet demeanor and eager to please disposition.
Boomer is now in a foster home while he waits for his future family. He does very well with his foster sibling, but definitely loves soaking up all the affection he can get. We believe he would do well with other medium to large dogs (male or female) but we don't think he would mind being the only dog in a home either. Boomer loves to play and wrestle with his friends while he waits on cuddle time, and due to his sweet personality we believe he would be fine around children. The times we have seen him interact with children he is loving and is excited to have another person petting him.
Boomer loves to play as any young dog his age, but he's also pretty laid back. He gets excited at first but quickly calms down so he can savor every moment of attention he can get. He never gets tired of giving and receiving love. He goes in his crate easily and does not have separation anxiety.
Boomer has learned a few commands such as sit, lay down, and we are working on stay. It's hard to get him to stay because he just wants to be wherever you are! He is very eager to please and motivated by treats. He has learned to walk on a leash using a gentle leader collar and he loves daily walks as well as time running around the backyard. We think he would do well in a home where he was given some form of exercise as any dog would, but he definitely doesn't require a backyard. He loves car rides and will sit in the backseat just like his humans!
His beautiful almond shaped eyes and dark black coat are gorgeous, but the best part about Boomer is his child-like personality and happy disposition. After what he's been through we are amazed at his ability to love and trust others.
