Meet Duke, a 9 year old Boxer mix. This handsome older gentleman was
surrendered to a local shelter by his owner who was moving out of
state. T.A.R.A. saved him from death row because we knew he was
something special. Despite his age, Duke has some very impressive
assets! In addition to being potty trained and crate trained, he
understands commands in American Sign Language (ASL)! Impressive,
right? Because his previous owner was deaf, Duke knows "sit", "down",
"speak", "shake", "paw", "catch" and "cry" in ASL.

Duke is good with kids, other dogs and cats. He can seem a bit pushy
with other dogs at first, but after a slow introduction (3 days or so)
and lots of positive reinforcement, he feels much more at ease and
coexists with other dogs just fine!

This sweet boy is so smart and has so much love to give! Are you

Adoption Fee: $150

TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test and prevention (if age appropriate), flea prevention and deworming.  TARA's pets are all eligible for a two week trial.

Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed.  Size is subjective but we use the following guidelines: Small 1-20 pounds, Med 20-50 pounds, Large 50-80 pounds, Extra Large over 80 pounds.
