This friendly and affectionate girl originally came to TARA after she and her litter of puppies were dumped and left to fend for themselves. Her puppies were adopted right away, and after some time Anika was adopted as well. Unfortunately, after more than five years in a home, she has now been returned to us because her owner is moving into an apartment where dogs are not permitted.

Anika loves snuggling and takes full advantage of her sad hound eyes to try and convince you that she is a lap dog. She does, however, understand basic commands and will sit politely if you insist upon it. She gets along with other dogs and with cats - she lived with a dog "brother" in her previous home and has spent time in foster homes with multiple dogs and cats. She appears to be good with children, although we're not certain if she has ever lived in a home with children. Anika is playful but not hyper. She will require daily walks or other outdoor exercise, but for the most part she's happy to relax inside and enjoy a rawhide or Kong toy.

Approximate Birthdate: 04/2006

Adoption Fee: $150.00

TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming.  TARA's pets are all eligible for a  two week trial  .

Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed.  Size is subjective but we use the following guidelines: Small 1-20 pounds, Med 20-50 pounds, Large 50-80 pounds, Extra Large over 80 pounds.
