Butch is truly what you would call a "second chance" doggie. He has seen more pain than love in his 4-5 years, unfortunately, but his heart has stayed open and he has kept his love for everyone, despite all those bad things he had to endure most of his life. He was saved from KC animal control by a good Samaritan, emaciated, all bloody and suffering a great amount of hair loss. The shelter was going to put him down because of his condition, but his special angel couldn't let that happen. She saw the beauty of Butch, past that pained exterior. You would have thought he was an old decrepit dog the way he looked back then and the way he barked, but some cruel person abdanoned him, after they cut the muscle under his tongue, so it does not come completely out to the end of his bottom jaw. This causes him to not be able to lick his face or lips and he has to slurp his food and water. Ok, so he is a bit of a messy eater (easily fixed by a towel under the bowls) but you and I would be too if someone heartlessly cut our tongues to keep us from barking. Butch's coat has grown back beautifully and will continue to get prettier when he begins to thrive in a home of his very own. He has filled out nicely from eating good food compared to the skinny dog that was abandoned in an animal control cage. He is vocal at times because he loves to "talk" to everyone. Butch is great with cats, other dogs and kids. He can sometimes get his feelings hurt easily when you correct him, because of the treatment he suffered through previously, but recovers quickly to play with everyone and love them with his whole heart. Butch is a great dog that will make someone a truly loyal companion and deserves only the very best care for the rest of his life. Please apply for this special guy today.
