Mariposa is a 7-year-old Chihuahua that was rescued from a puppy mill in November of 2011. Until then, she lived in a cage and experienced no love or kindness from humans. She spent her first few days with T.A.R.A. exclusively in her crate even though her door was open for exploring. She didn’t know what to do in her new situation! However, she is quickly gaining confidence and learning how to be a pet. She loves treats and scratches under the chin. She also likes to cuddle up in the privacy of a warm blanket. Mari has had a difficult life, spending six of her seven years without human compassion. She needs a quiet home where she will be coaxed out of her shell with patience and unconditional love. Do you have room in your heart to provide a loving home to this sweet little girl?
UPDATE 10/12
Mariposa has been waiting for her special someone for nearly a year now. She is still recovering from her traumatic puppy mill days, but has come a long way since then. She may not be a lap dog, but she is loyal and inquisitive—following her foster mom around the house, investigating the kitchen for treats and cuddling up in her bed each night like clockwork. She has learned to love the outdoors, and plays well with her foster brothers and sisters- especially those who are a bit calmer. The joy of adopting this special little girl is knowing that you’ve given her the safe and loving home she has been deprived of for so long.
