Bamboo, aka "my Shadow" is a 3 year old shar pei/german shorthaired pointer mix. While he may look like a black dog in his pictures, he is actually a deep chocolate brown. At the vet he was referred to as a Double-Stuffed Oreo cookie with his creamy, speckled belly and rich, shining coat.
He currently enjoys his days with three other dogs all ranging from 40-100lbs.
He is also very good friends with my two young kids (ages 3 and 5).
He is learning to accept our cat, but is still instinctively a bird dog, so he needs to be watched. He is very respectful of his boundaries, including such weak security as a leaned-baby-gate and a 4ft fence.
He does need to see his boundaries, though, or is going to be hard to catch! We recommend a house with a fenced yard for this active boy, whose legs seem to sprout wings when he tucks himself into running mode.
He has not had any accidents in the house; not even after changing his diet (Science Diet Adult currently .. along with some glucosamine and fish oil supplements).
He LOVES to chew on toys, and is a big fan of Nylabones, balls and stuffed animals. He also is highly food and praise motivated. He is eager to please and loves training rewards. He has already learned Sit, Down, Stay, Back (up!), Out (of the kitchen), and Shake.
He dislikes loud voices, fire (even faux fire/places) and plastic bags.
He is crate trained, although sings - as only a pointer could! - loudly when first left home alone. He would be a great boy for any family!
Approximate Birthdate: July 2008
