Hi there. My name is C. K. Dexter Haven, but my friends just call me Dexter. I’m grateful for my friends. I was lost and alone on the streets for a while before I was swooped up by a giant animal control truck and whisked off to a loud, crowded shelter. You have no idea how scary that was for a little guy like me. I wasn’t meant for prison life! I’m ready to put those bad memories behind me and find myself a loving home -- but not just any home. It’s got to be one where I can sit in your lap. And I have to be able to give you lots of kisses. And I like to hop up next to you in bed and sleep right by your side all night. If you have a cat, that’s OK, because I stay away from them. If you have other dogs, that’s awesome! I love to cuddle up with them, too. I’m a curious fellow, and I can skinny under gates and leap over ledges, so a secure yard will keep me safe. I know that’s all a lot to ask, but I’m smart (I can lie down for treats and I howl on demand!), and I’ve got lots of love to give, so I think I’m worth it. I sure hope you think so, too.

Adoption Fee: $150.00 

TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test and prevention (if age appropriate), flea prevention and deworming.  TARA's pets are all eligible for a two week trial.

Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed.  Size is subjective but we use the following guidelines: Small 1-20 pounds, Med 20-50 pounds, Large 50-80 pounds, Extra Large over 80 pounds.
