Gertrude is a big girl, but don’t let her size worry you. She’s a gentle sweetheart. She loves attention and will follow you everywhere. She’s content to lay her head on your lap or curl up next to you on the couch or the floor while you watch TV. She loves to sleep on the bed with her humans and will lay down next to you and not move all night. This girl was seized by animal control in Kansas City, MO due to cruelty. She was rescued from the animal shelter after spending 45 days in a small cage. She’s had a rough life, but hasn’t let her circumstances get her down. Gertrude can be a playful girl, but is surprisingly gentle when she plays. While staying in a foster home with 3 much smaller dogs Gertrude just ignored them when they barked at her or tried to nibble on her ears. Sometimes she’d roll over on her back to play with them so she didn’t hurt them. It’s so much fun to watch her run around free. She looks so happy when she smiles and wags her tail, which is often. She loves to chew on toys, but make sure you get the toughest toys you can find or they won’t last long. She ignored the cats in her foster home if they were being still, but would chase them if they tried to run. However, she is easily called off if she tries to chase them. She’s house trained and waiting patiently for the right home. Are you the one to give Gertrude the love and care she deserves?
