Like his namesake, Barry is agile and light on his feet. He was apparently abandoned in a residential area and fended for himself until concerned neighbors contacted us for help.
This dog is not just beautiful, he is gentle, sweet and mellow, gets along with all dogs but is a bit intimidated by brazen cats although he appears to really like them. It seems inconceivable that someone would have just thrown him away - he is housebroken, calm, very well behaved and full of love for people. Barry walks well on a leash, loves to go for car rides and snuggle up on the couch.
The ideal home for him would be with someone who is home most of the time since he does seem to be very needy and tends to cling to the person who shows him any kind of affection or, in the alternative, a home with an other dog who would keep him from getting lonely. He is such a gentle soul that I would not hesitate to place him with children, but he might be happier in a calm environment - after all, he does think of himself as a lap dog.
Barry is on the small side for his breed, around 60 pounds, and is approximately 3 years old.
