Bartley is the sweetest guy. He's approximately 3 yrs old and came to us in rough shape. You can still feel little bb pellets under the skin in his head (sad). He knows no stranger and will get excited to interact with everyone! He gets along great with dogs of all sizes, kids, cats and adults. He is gentle with kids (has been around kids ages 4-12) and loves to engage in play with everyone. He has the chase/light wrestle play style and loves to play though will leave the play if the other animals let him know it’s unwanted. If given the chance Bartley would love a fenced-in back yard to run around in and be able to chase squirrels, deer, and raccoons. He gets very excited and intrigued by wildlife. 

 

Bartley's current foster has been working with him on some basic commands such “sit” “lay” “stay” and “leave it”. As well, he will respond to his name and is working on strengthening his recall “come” and release command “break”. He gets excited to go outside and his foster is also using the “stay” command when opening doors to work on not running/dashing through doors (inside and outside).

 

When walking on leash, he is excited about the adventure and all the smells. He does better in a harness. He is a curious little fellow and loves to sniff around, listen, and see what’s going on inside and outside the house. He does well in the car and enjoys watching the world go by out the windows.

 

Bartley loves to snuggle, kiss, and hangout on a lap if given the opportunity. He enjoys playing with plush toys and loves loves chewing on the occasional bully stick or chew sticks. He settles down easily and sleeps through the night. He is kennel and potty trained. Bartley  would love another pet(s) or kid(s) to engage in his curiosity and play throughout the day.

Adoption Fee: $200

TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming.  TARA's pets are all eligible for a TWO WEEK TRIAL.

Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed.  Size is subjective but we use the following guidelines: Small 1-20 pounds, Med 20-50 pounds, Large 50-80 pounds, Extra Large over 80 pounds.
