Like the lyric from the song we named her for, Sweet Caroline is sure to be your “one”, if you are looking for nights to be less lonely and hurtin’ to run off your shoulders. She is an ever so lovely senior (10-12 years) basenji/carolina/cattle dog mix with the most adorable ears. Caro came to us from a shelter in Yukon, OK a month ago, after she found herself abandoned on their streets. We don’t know what her life was like before, but at some point, she must have been well loved, as she craves affection, human food (lol) and loves to sleep in bed with her person/people and fellow dog buddies. Some might consider that “clingy”, but with her being deaf, she is just looking for the reassurance that a friendly face and loving hand/paw can provide. She isn’t destructive and would not need to be crated, if not left for extraordinarily long periods. She has had a full dental and is getting used to enjoying her doggy kibble, as long as we soften it up with either broth or a little canned food on top. Caro is currently being given a liver supplement to help her, called Denamarin. The monthly cost is around $60- $70 and would need to be administered once a day until a blood draw by her veterinarian would prove otherwise. Caroline is fully house trained and lets you know when she needs out. She has the cutest deep bark that seems so strange for such a svelte lady (around 45 lbs and medium sized).
We would love for Sweet Caroline to find her perfect person or family, so she can be cherished in her golden years, never to be abandoned again. Won’t you please apply to adopt her and open up your heart and home to this very special girl?
