Eli is a young, gentle and sweet Shepherd mix. He has very good manners (no jumping up or pushing others out of the way, submissive dog play), patiently waits for his turn for a treat and takes it gently from the hand. Eli is very attentive to the human, loves to have the world explained to him and responds well to gentle, happy voice encouragement. He is learning that car rides are fun. He is kennel trained-goes in all by himself, getting a treat for doing so is extra nice and appreciated. Eli sleeps through the night. He gets frequent time outside and is house-trained. We are working on leash walking and he's doing very well, no pulling, some city sounds are scary but he can be talked through them and encouraged to keep walking. He needs a fenced yard to play and zoom and run crazy eights. We are also working on basic commands as well as fetch and return. Eli happily entertains himself when the human has to work or the resident canines are napping. He would enjoy a canine sibling or friends to play with on a regular basis.
TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming. TARA's pets are all eligible for a two week trial .
Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed. Size is subjective but we use the following guidelines: Small 1-20 pounds, Med 20-50 pounds, Large 50-80 pounds, Extra Large over 80 pounds.
