Bear was found wandering in rural Missouri and was taken into a high kill shelter. He spent several months there waiting for his forever family with no luck. The shelter workers learned very quickly that Bear is very smart and taught him many tricks. Bear knows sit, shake, kennel up, get your leash, get your toy, and lay down. He's submissive and good with big and little dogs and shows no food or toy aggression. He was transferred to a different shelter and spent several more months waiting patiently there for his forever home, again with no luck. The shelter life took a toll on him and he began losing fur. He doesn't jump, climb, or dig. He is potty trained. He takes treats out of your hand gently. He's a big lover and enjoys scratches and snuggles and he's playful and enjoys walks. He barks at new strangers entering the home but calms down easily. He is scared of bald men but once they put a hat on he's fine, which might be telling of his past life story.
Now he resides in foster care and is doing very well with his other dog friends. He also lives with a baby in foster care and does great around her too. While Bear might look like a big junkyard dog he's so incredibly kind and sweet. He's hoping to find his FOREVER family soon!
