Poindexter was found as a stray and spent a month at a local vet clinic waiting for his family to come find him but they never did. We don't understand how anyone could have let this boy go, he is the perfect dog! Poindexter is around 4-6 years old and has the sweetest, most gentle personality. He gets along great with other dogs, big or small and is wonderful with kids! He is house trained, non destructive and so well mannered in the house - whether you are home or not! Here is a special note for the sweetie, himself:
"My name is Poindexter and my new foster mom says I am one special Pointer mix! I just came to live with her today, 1/5/13 – I have a foster sister who is very cool and we get along well together. I love the yard and went around sniffing and marking it as my yard…..my foster sister showed me some cool things on our walk tonight but she likes to sniff and I just like to keep going and going…..my foster mommy says I would be a good doggy for someone who jogs and I am great on leash….I also like to just lay around and snuggle too so she says ANYBODY would be lucky to have me……she says I take my treats just as gentle as my foster sister….
She says I gotta put on a few pounds cuz I'm so skinny…..I sure hope she keeps giving me and my foster sister homemade doggy food along with the regular stuff….I'm a chilling kinda guy who is looking for his forever home and hope you give me a chance…..I will keep a little diary to let y'all know how I'm doing so check back again……….or better yet fill out an application so I can come live with you………
Diary Entry #2 1/13/13
My foster momma says I am learning quickly how to love and be loved…..I like to snuggle and get hugs but at my pace…..momma took me to the vet's to be "cat-tested" yesterday (it's a kind of "cat scan" to find out if you like kitties – BOL) and I seem to get along ok with kitties, in fact I just kinda ignored the kitty…momma says kinda silly things to me especially when we're walking like I need to slow down and smell the roses – I looked up at her thinking it's winter and there isn't anything to smell so the next rose bush we passed by, I promptly lifted my leg on and made her laugh….we even talked her into taking us for a little walk today even though it was really cold and I was shivering when we got back – both me and my foster sister wanted to walk longer but she said no cuz she didn't want us to get too cold

Adoption Fee: $150
TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test and prevention (if age appropriate), flea prevention and deworming. TARA's pets are all eligible for a two week trial.
Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed. Size is subjective but we use the following guidelines: Small 1-20 pounds, Med 20-50 pounds, Large 50-80 pounds, Extra Large over 80 pounds.
