Emma & her sister, Gracie were surrendered over to T.A.R.A. because their parents are being transferred overseas for their work and despite searching all options; they are unable to take the girls with them. They are now looking for a forever home where they can remain spoiled and well cared for.
Emma is a 5 year old, Shih Tzu with a gorgeous smile! She is energetic at times and a cuddle baby at other times. She enjoys playing with toys and being chased around the house/yard. She also likes to have down time where she likes to be cuddled and have a nice belly rub. Emma also loves going “Bye-bye” to take short car rides where she hangs half of her body out the car window. She is also very inquisitive and loves to know what is going on at all times.
Emma requires at least a weekly brushing of her hair and to be taken to the groomers about every 2 ½ months.
Emma is housetrained, however, she does best going potty on a leash or in a fenced-in back yard where she has access to come in and out on her own (doggie door).
We would prefer for Emma and Gracie to be adopted together, but if they have to be separated, Emma would do well in a home with other small dogs or in a home where she is the only dog.

Adoption Fee: $150
TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test and prevention (if age appropriate), flea prevention and deworming. TARA's pets are all eligible for a two week trial.
Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed. Size is subjective but we use the following guidelines: Small 1-20 pounds, Med 20-50 pounds, Large 50-80 pounds, Extra Large over 80 pounds.
